Contact your cable provider and order a digital converter box. Some TVs are able to accommodate digital features with built-in components, but the majority of TVs will require a digital converter box in order to use digital cable. Note that depending on your service provider, you may also need to upgrade to digital cable service after getting the box.

Attach the coaxial cable coming out of your wall cable outlet to the coaxial input on your digital cable box.

Attach the audio/video connection cable from the digital cable box to your TV's audio/video input ports. The TV will need to be tuned to the input channel you used in order to watch cable. For instance, if you used component cable to attach the box to the "Component 1" input, use the input selection control on the TV's remote to tune the TV to the "Component 1" input. If you see a picture, you have successfully converted your standard terrestrial TV service to digital service.
