How to Block a GPS Tracking Signal From a Samsung Rant


The Samsung Rant SPH-M540 has a built-in GPS transmitter used for calls to 911 and location based services such as Sprint's Family Locator. As a safety feature, you cannot disable the GPS completely. However, you can block the GPS signal for all services except emergency calls by turning off the Rant's location feature. When the location feature is disabled, the phone will display an icon of a target with a red diagonal slash. When the location feature is enabled, the target icon appears without a slash.

Instructions

Press the "MENU/OK" key to open the main menu on the Rant.

Highlight "Settings" using the directional pad and press "MENU/OK."




3.Select "More..." and press "MENU/OK." The phone will display a disclaimer on the screen.

Press "MENU/OK" to open the Location Settings screen.

Highlight "OFF" and press "MENU/OK" to confirm.
