How to Use Dreambox As a Decoder
The Dreambox 500 receiver is a satellite decoder. A satellite decoder is needed because signals sent to a television through a satellite arrive in a format no television can display. The decoder interprets the lower L-Band frequencies coming from the satellite's LNB frequencies. On occasion, you might notice that your television does not display the full set of channels received from the satellite transmission. It could be that the transponders have not been updated. If this is the case, you can program your Dreambox decoder to update the transponders and resume your expected television programming options.

Instructions

Press the "Power" button on your Dreambox decoder to turn it on.

Press "Menu" on your remote, then press the arrow buttons to select "Setup." Select "Service Searching" and "Transponder Edit."

Select the satellite you want to use from the list displayed. Use the arrow buttons to select "Add," "Edit" or "Remove" to modify any functions that are available or any you want to add or remove.

Press "Menu" and select "Setup." Select "Service Searching," "Automatic Transponder Scan" to begin decoding and scanning for channels.
